Y Siarter Iaith

Nod Llywodraeth Cymru yw cael miliwn o siaradwyr Cymraeg erbyn 2050. Mae’r Siartr Iaith yn cefnogi hyn trwy annog plant i siarad mwy o Gymraeg mewn sefyllfaoedd cymdeithasol, yn yr ysgol a thu allan. Yn Ysgol Calon Cymru ein nod yw cael defnydd cyson o’r Gymraeg ar draws ein cwricwlwm ac ymhob agwedd o fywyd yr ysgol. Rydym yn ymfalchïo yn ein diwylliant, iaith a thraddodiadau. Er mwyn i ni gyflawni ein nod, bydd angen cyfraniadau gan ddisgyblion, staff, rhieni/gofalwyr, llywodraethwyr a’r gymuned leol.

Nod syml y Siarter Iaith yw darparu fframwaith clir, y gellir ei ddefnyddio i hyrwyddo a chynyddu’r defnydd o’r Gymraeg gan blant. Yn gryno, prif nod y Siartr yw:

  • hyrwyddo ethos Cymreig mewn ysgolion

  • darparu amrediad o weithgareddau cyfoethogi sy’n arwain y plant i fwynhau dysgu Cymraeg.

The Welsh Language Charter

The Welsh Government’s aim is to have a million Welsh speakers by 2050. The Language Charter supports this by encouraging children to speak a greater amount of Welsh in social situations, both inside and outside of school. At Ysgol Calon Cymru we are aiming for a consistent use of Welsh across our curriculum and in all aspects of school life. We are proud of our culture, language and traditions. In order for us to achieve our aim, contributions from all will be required by pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors and the local community.

The simple objective of the Language Charter is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children. In a nutshell, the Charter’s main aim is:

  • to promote a strong Welsh ethos in schools

  • to provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh.

Criw Cymraeg

Mae’r Criw Cymraeg yn grŵp o blant o bob grŵp blwyddyn, sydd yno trwy bleidlais eu cymheiriaid, gyda’r nod o hybu’r defnydd o’r gymraeg o gwmpas yr ysgol.  Mae’r Criw Cymraeg yn gyfryngol i arwain a gyrru’r Siartr Iaith yn ei flaen yn Ysgol Calon Cymru.

Criw Cymraeg

The Criw Cymraeg are a group of children from each year group, voted by their peers, with the aim of encouraging the use of Welsh around the school. The Criw Cymraeg (Welsh Crew) are instrumental in leading and driving the Language Charter forward at Ysgol Calon Cymru.

Ni yw’r Criw Cymraeg ac rydym yn gweithio at gyflawni gwobr Efydd y Siarter Iaith. Ein nod yw hyrwyddo'r Gymraeg trwy'r ysgol a'r cwricwlwm i gyd. Rydym wedi edrych ar gynnydd tuag at feini prawf llwyddiant Efydd, ac wedi cynllunio ein meysydd ffocws nesaf.

Ein nodau yw:

  1. Annog disgyblion a staff i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg yn achlysurol o gwmpas campws yr ysgol.

  2. Gwobrwyo disgyblion a staff am eu hymdrechion i siarad Cymraeg yn y dosbarth ac o gwmpas yr ysgol.

  3. Helpu athrawon a disgyblion i ddatblygu eu sgiliau iaith Cymraeg a gwybodaeth am Hanes a Diwylliant Cymru.

Fel Criw Cymraeg, rhan o’n rôl yw hyrwyddo ethos Cymreig trwy annog dysgwyr a staff i siarad Cymraeg.

Dyma rai o’r pethau rydym wedi eu gwneud i annog y defnydd o’r Gymraeg (gan ddisgyblion a staff ) yn YCC:

“Er mwyn datblygu geirfa disgyblion a staff, rydym wedi cyflwyno ‘Gair/Ymadrodd yr Wythnos’. Anogir disgyblion a staff i ddefnyddio’r geiriau hyn drwy’r wythnos, mewn gwersi ac o gwmpas yr ysgol.”

— Meuryn Rees, Ella Lewis ac Alys Parry

“Rydym wedi penderfynu y dylid gwobrwyo disgyblion a staff am eu hymdrechion i siarad Cymraeg yn y dosbarth ac o gwmpas yr ysgol. Rydym yn annog staff i wobrwyo disgyblion gyda ‘Credyd Cymreictod’ ac rydym ar hyn o bryd yn edrych ar ffyrdd i wobrwyo disgyblion ymhellach am eu hymdrechion.  Hefyd, rhoddir cyfle i ddisgyblion enwebu athrawon am eu hymdrechion i siarad Cymraeg.”

Kai Edwards, Aled Davies a Rhys Powell

“I ddathlu Diwrnod Shwmae ar 14eg Hydref, cynhalion ni stondin gacennau i godi arian i helpu i gyllido rhai gweithgareddau fydd yn helpu disgyblion i wella eu sgiliau Cymraeg a gwybodaeth am hanes a diwylliant Cymru. Roedd yn llwyddiannus tu hwnt a llwyddon ni i godi dros £80! Cafodd y disgybliondisgownt am ofyn am gacen yn y Gymraeg!”

We are the Criw Cymraeg and we are working towards the Bronze award of the Welsh Language Charter. We aim to promote Welsh throughout the school and curriculum.

We have looked at progress towards the Bronze success criteria, and have planned our next focus areas.

Our aims are:

  1. To encourage pupils and staff to use incidental Welsh around the school campus.

  2. To reward pupils and staff for their efforts in speaking Welsh in class and around the school.

  3. To help teachers and pupils to develop their Welsh language skills and knowledge of Welsh History and Culture.

As Criw Cymraeg, part of our role is to promote a Welsh ethos in Ysgol Calon Cymru by encouraging learners and staff to speak Welsh.

Here are some of the things we have done to encourage the use of Welsh (by pupils and staff) at YCC:

“In order to develop the vocabulary of both pupils and staff, we have introduced the ‘Word/ Phrase of the Week’. Pupils and staff are encouraged to use these words throughout the week, in lessons and around the school.”

— Meuryn Rees, Ella Lewis and Alys Parry

“We’ve decided that pupils and staff should be rewarded for their efforts in speaking Welsh in class and around the school.  We encourage staff to award pupils a ‘Credyd Cymreictod’ (Welsh Credit) and are currently looking at ways to further reward pupils for their effort.  Pupils also have the opportunity to nominate teachers for their efforts in speaking Welsh.”

Kai Edwards, Aled Davies and Rhys Powell

“To celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae on the 14th of October, we held a cake stall to raise money to help fund some activities that will help pupils improve their Welsh skills and knowledge of Welsh history and culture. It was really successful and we managed to raise over £80! Pupils had a discount if they asked for a cake in Welsh!”
