Gwobr Llesiant

Ysgol Calon Cymru has been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools for 2022–2025.

Mae Ysgol Calon Cymru wedi ennill Gwobr Lles i Ysgolion ar gyfer 2022–2025.

Introduction to the Award

Developed in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau (NCB), the Wellbeing Award for Schools is intended to help schools prepare and equip themselves to promote emotional wellbeing and positive mental health across the whole-school community. The vision is to create an education system where good emotional wellbeing and mental health are at the heart of the culture and ethos of our school, so that our pupils, with the support of their teachers, can build confidence and flourish. Evidence shows us that wellbeing is of central importance to learning and attainment, with high levels of wellbeing associated with improved academic outcomes.

Cyfwyniad i’r Wobr

Wedi’i ddatblygu mewn partneriaeth gyda Biwro Cenedlaethol y Plant (BCP), bwriad Gwobr Llesiant Ysgolion yw helpu ysgolion i baratoi ac arfogi eu hunain i hyrwyddo llesiant emosiynol ac iechyd meddwl cadarnhaol ar draws cymuned gyfan yr ysgol. Y weledigaeth yw creu system addysg lle mae llesiant emosiynol ac iechyd meddwl da yn ganolog i ddiwylliant ac ethos yr ysgol, fel y gall ein disgyblion, gyda chefnogaeth eu hathrawon, adeiladu hyder a ffynnu. Dengys tystiolaeth bod llesiant yn ganolog bwysig i ddysgu a chyrhaeddiad, gyda lefelau uchel o lesiant a gysylltir â chanlyniadau academaidd gwell.

Principles Behind the Award

There are four key principles driving the ideas and recommendations behind the award:

  1. Emotional wellbeing and mental health are a continuum. Related issues can range from positive attitudes and behaviour, through to experiences of emotional distress and mental disorder.

  2. Schools already experience and manage emotional issues on a daily basis; the objective is to minimise the impact of such issues and maximise the effectiveness of any responses.

  3. Emotional wellbeing covers a range of dimensions, such as resilience, character building, relationships and self-esteem, etc. Understanding both developmental and mental health awareness is critical.

  4. Creating a positive school culture requires a whole-school approach that is led from the top while involving all in the school community.

Yr Egwyddorion Tu ôl i’r Wobr

Ceir pedair egwyddor allweddol sy’n gyrru’r syniadau ac arhymhellion tu ôl i’r wobr:

  1. Mae llesiant emosiynol ac iechyd meddwl yn gontinwwm. Gall materion poerthynol amrywio o agweddau ac ymddygiadau cadarnhaol, i brofiadau o drallod emosiynol ac anhwylder meddwl.

  2. Mae ysgolion eisoes yn profi a rheoli materion emosiynol yn ddyddiol; y nod yw isafu effaith materion fel hyn a mwyhau effeithlonrwydd inrhyw ymatebion  .

  3. Mae llesiant emosiynol yn ymdrin ag amrediad o ddimensiynau, fel gwytnwch, adeiladu cymeriad, perthnasoedd a hunan-barch, ayyb. Mae deall ymwybyddiaeth datblygol ac iechyd meddwl yn hanfodol.

  4. Mae creu diwylliant ysgol cadarnhaol yn gofyn am ddulliau ysgol gyfan a arweinir o’r top ac yn cynnwys pawb yng nghymuned yr ysgol.

 The Whole-School Community

One theme that is central to the award is the need for schools to draw the wider community and relevant stakeholders into the centre of the change process. Parents and carers are one such group. Evidence shows that, for parents, the emotional and mental health needs of their children is of increasing concern, and often parents look to the school to support and inform them. Pupils also need to be given the opportunity to express their own voice and this can be an influential source of good ideas for any school looking for innovative and appropriate solutions.

Cymuned Ysgol Gyfan

Un thema sy’n ganolog i’r wobr yw’r angen i ysgolion dynnu’r gymuned ehangach a rhanddeiliaid perthnasol i ganol y broses newid. Un grŵp o’r fath yw rhieni a gofalwyr. Dengys tystiolaeth bod anghenion iechyd emosiynol a meddyliol eu plant o bryder cynyddol i rieni, ac yn aml mae rhieni’n edrych ar yr ysgol i’w cefmogi a’u hysbysu. Rhaid rhoi cyfle i ddisgyblion hefyd i fynegi eu llais eu hunain a gall fod yn ffynhonnell dylanwadol o syniadau da i unrhyw ysgol sy’n chwilio am atebion arloesol a phriodol.

Mae eich adborth yn bwysig i ni, defnyddiwch y ddolen isod i roi gwybod i ni beth yw eich barn.
