This week (Monday 1st–Sunday 7th February) is Children's Mental Health Week! This awareness week has been held annually since 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of young people’s mental health.  

This year’s theme is ‘Express Yourself’. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good. It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

Yr wythnos hon (Dydd Llun 1af–Dydd Sul 7fed Chwefror) yw Wythnos Iechyd Meddwl Plant! Mae'r wythnos ymwybyddiaeth hon wedi'i chynnal yn flynyddol ers 2015 i dynnu sylw at bwysigrwydd iechyd meddwl pobl ifanc. 

Thema eleni yw ‘Express Yourself’. Mae mynegi eich hun yn ymwneud â dod o hyd i ffyrdd i rannu teimladau, meddyliau, neu syniadau, trwy greadigrwydd. Gallai hyn fod trwy gelf, cerddoriaeth, ysgrifennu a barddoniaeth, dawns a drama, ffotograffiaeth a ffilm, a gwneud gweithgareddau sy'n gwneud ichi deimlo'n dda. Mae'n bwysig cofio nad yw gallu mynegi eich hun yn ymwneud â bod y gorau ar rywbeth na chynnal perfformiad i eraill. Mae'n ymwneud â dod o hyd i ffordd i ddangos pwy ydych chi, a sut rydych chi'n gweld y byd, a all eich helpu i deimlo'n dda amdanoch chi'ch hun.

Inside Out Day

Wednesday 3rd February

On Wednesday 3rd February, Ysgol Calon Cymru will be taking part in ‘Inside Out Day’ as part of Children’s Mental Health Week 2021. Inside Out Day shows that how someone looks on the outside doesn’t necessarily reflect how they are truly feeling on the inside.

It’s OK not to be OK. No one is perfect, even though they may look so from the outside. The idea behind Inside Out Day is to turn your clothes inside out to get important conversations started. No one should be embarrassed about how they feel.

Diwrnod Tu Mewn Allan

Dydd Mercher 3ydd Chwefror

Ar dydd Mercher 3ydd o Chwefror, bydd Ysgol Calon Cymru yn cymryd rhan yn 'Diwrnod Tu Mewn Allan' fel rhan o Wythnos Iechyd Meddwl Plant 2021. Mae Diwrnod Tu Mewn Allan yn dangos nad yw sut mae rhywun yn edrych ar y tu allan o reidrwydd yn adlewyrchu sut maen nhw'n teimlo go iawn ar y tu mewn. 

Mae'n iawn peidio â bod yn iawn. Nid oes unrhyw un yn berffaith, er eu bod yn edrych felly o'r tu allan. Y syniad y tu ôl i Ddiwrnod Tu Mewn Allan yw troi eich dillad y tu mewn allan er mwyn cychwyn sgyrsiau pwysig. Ni ddylai unrhyw un deimlo cywilydd ynglŷn â sut maen nhw'n teimlo.

 
 

We’d like to invite all of our pupils send an image of themselves wearing an item of clothing inside out to office@caloncymru.powys.sch.uk. Your teachers and other school staff will be doing this too. All the photos we receive will be featured on this page.

Wellbeing Sessions

During this week, both pupils and parents will have access to online wellbeing sessions led by our outside agencies and our school pastoral staff. Last week we sent out a link where pupils and parents could sign up for these sessions.

These wellbeing sessions will be live streamed via Microsoft Teams and an invite will be sent out to your school email prior to the day to allow you to join the session. 

If you would like to book an appointment with our Wellbeing Team or request a referral to one of our outside agencies, please complete the following survey and we will be in touch.

LGBT-Informed Schools

Ysgol Calon Cymru fully support equality and diversity and are very proud to show their support for LGBT inclusivity within our school.

‘Prosiect Pride’ is a project that has been set up off the back of last year’s Ysgol Calon Cymru video for Pride featuring staff and students, which was viewed over 8,000 times on social media.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are characterised by an abnormal attitude to food and body weight/ shape, leading a person to alter their eating patterns and behaviours, causing damage to their physical and mental health. The following resources are designed to help you if you are affected by an eating disorder like anorexia, bulimia or binge eating. They self-care tips for helping yourself, plus guidance for friends and family.

Maen nhw'n hunanofal am helpu eich hun, ynghyd ag arweiniad i ffrindiau a theulu.

Self Harm

Most people self harm as a way of coping with problems, but this generally doesn’t work because the solution is short-term and the problems don’t go away. Self harm as a behaviour also brings up difficult emotions such as feeling ashamed or different and this could make you feel worse. It can become a habit that’s hard to break. The following resources are designed to help you if you sometimes feel distressed and are think about harming yourself.

Mae'r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn hunan-niweidio fel ffordd o ymdopi â phroblemau, ond yn gyffredinol nid yw hyn yn gweithio oherwydd bod yr ateb yn un tymor byr ac nad yw'r problemau'n diflannu. Mae hunan-niweidio fel ymddygiad hefyd yn codi emosiynau anodd fel teimlo cywilydd neu wahanol a gallai hyn wneud i chi deimlo'n waeth. Gall ddod yn arfer sy'n anodd ei dorri. Mae'r adnoddau canlynol wedi'u cynllunio i'ch helpu os ydych weithiau'n teimlo'n ofidus ac yn meddwl am niweidio eich hun.

Builth Campus Pupil Wellbeing Ambassador Scheme

Congratulations to all the pupils that interviewed for a role as a Pupil Wellbeing Ambassador. The interviews were exceptional, and we are pleased to announce that 9 Ambassadors were selected. This week the ambassadors will be trained as peer mentors and will participate in their first meeting to generate ideas to promote good wellbeing across the campus.

Llongyfarchiadau i'r holl ddisgyblion a gyfwelodd am rôl fel Llysgennad Lles Disgyblion. Roedd y cyfweliadau yn eithriadol, ac rydym yn falch o gyhoeddi bod 9 Llysgennad wedi'u dewis.
