On June 7th 2022, the Welsh Government first published the 'Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan' (see link below). This plan sets out how all organisations within Wales will aim to become anti-racist by 2030. This plan was a response to the continued issues experienced by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups highlighted by the killing of George Floyd in 2020 and the ensuing Black Lives Matter movement. The 'Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan' also coincided with a number of published reports and research papers within education looking at workforce diversity and anti-racism within the new curriculum.

Ysgol Calon Cymru will therefore be working on a whole school approach to anti-racism. This work will be long term, continuous and will include:

  • The development of a vision and policy

  • Continuous engagement with stakeholders

  • Professional learning

  • Curriculum development

  • Recording and reporting

  • Recruitment processes

  • Collaboration with external partners

Ar 7fed Mehefin 2022, cyhoeddodd Llywodraerth Cymru’r ‘Cynllun Gweithredu Cymru Wrth-hiliol’ (gweler y ddolen isod). Mae’r cynllun hwn yn nodi sut y bydd pob sefydliad yng Nghymru yn anelu at ddod yn wrth-hiliaeth erbyn 2030. Cynllun oedd hwn i ymateb i’r problemau parhaus a brofai grwpiau o Bobl Ddu, Asiaidd ac Ethnig Leiafrifol a amlygwyd pan laddwyd George Floyd yn 2020 a’r mudiad Black Lives Matter ddatblygodd yn sgil hyn. Mae’r Cynllun Gweithredu Cymru Wrth-hiliol' yn cyd-ddigwydd gyda nifer o adroddiadau a phapurau ymchwil cyhoeddedig o fewn i addysg sy’n edrych ar y cwricwlwm newydd.

Felly, bydd Ysgol Calon Cymru’n gweithio ar ddull ysgol gyfan tuag at wrth-hiliaeth. Gwaith hirdymor, parhaus fydd hyn, a bydd yn cynnwys:

  • Datblygu gweledigaeth a pholisi

  • Ymgysylltiad parhaus gyda rhanddeiliaid

  • Dysgu proffesiynol

  • Datblygu’r cwricwlwm

  • Cofnodi ac adrodd

  • Proses recriwtio

  • Cydweithio gyda phartneriaid allanol

In-House Action Research

As part of continuous professional learning and leadership development, Head of Campus Mr Lyndon Jones undertook a research project last year on Workforce Diversity and Anti-Racism in the Curriculum. The findings highlighted the lack of diversity within our own workforce and also set out the work required to become anti-racist within our school setting. The project has been shared with our governing body, staff and key external partners and will be a starting point to our journey towards an anti-racist school. Please follow the links below.

Fel rhan o ddysgu proffesiynol parhaus a datblygu arweinyddiaeth, mae’r Pennaeth Campws Mr Lyndon Jones wedi ymgymryd llynedd â phrosiect ymchwil ar Amrywiaeth y Gweithle a Gwrth-hiliaeth yn y Cwricwlwm.
